New Site Launched for Just Cats

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

We just launched a great new site for Just Cats Veterinary Clinic in Guilderland. This is a knock-out project and I am sure that everyone will like it. You don’t even have to be a fan of cats! We worked very closely with Brownstone Graphics of Albany, New York on this one. Brownstone supplied the fantastic graphical elements that you see on the site. We converted their designs into the Web site.

Be sure to visit www.justcatsvet.com and see this new project. Cat owners (if it is actually possible to “own” a cat) should be check out the FAQ section for important information.

Beware of a nasty “antivirus” program!

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

I recently spent about 4 hours removing an ugly program that accidentally installed on a friend’s computer. This thing goes by the name Antivirus XP 2008 and looks like a real antivirus scanner. But, as it turns out, this bad program gets installed and then claims to scan the victimized computer. A gigantic list of “viruses” is displayed, but the program refuses to get rid of them unless you pay about $50! It is, essentially, appearing to hold your computer hostage.

This “scanner” starts to install if you visit a malicious Web site. What should you do? If you visit a site and some sort of thing that looks like a scanner starts to go to work, IMMEDIATELY click out. Go to your home page, hit the back button repeatedly, but get away from that site as quickly as you can.

It probably wouldn’t hurt to run a scan with your real virus scanning program, but with a little bit of luck, you should be OK.
