Handy Web Site: What is going on near you?

We like to keep our eyes and ears open for interesting Web sites. We have come across one of the coolest sites that we have seen so far. Do you have a radio scanner? You know, one of those devices that let you listen into police and fire department radio transmissions?

Well, if you don’t own a scanner there is a Web site just for your. Visit www.radioreference.com to discover what is going on in your area, or maybe what is happening elsewhere across the country.

Radio Reference is a site that scanner owners know because it has databases that allow them to easily program their radio scanners using the proper software and computer. This site have been recently updated, and it now has live radio feeds supplied by volunteers across the country. You can click on the Live Audio link and follow the trail to your favorite location. If a feed is available you can listen in right from your computer.

Depending on the location, you may find the traditional police, fire, and EMS broadcasts available. You might also be able to listen to airport transmissions, too.

Radio Reference is a fascinating site, and we warn you that it could be very addicting.
