A recent trip to the local Restore shop resulted in these two rather terrific finds. The Age of Aquarius LP by the 5th Dimension was extremely popular “back in the day” and should remain so even now. There are several cuts on the disc that pretty much everyone knows, and I bet you do, too.
The second record is titled A Warm Shade of Ivory and features the great Henry Mancini one the piano. I think it is safe to say that this can easily become a favorite record.
You may notice that each album has a little pricing sticker on it. The 5th Dimension disc is noted as $5 while the Mancini LP is $1. I suspect that the prices are based on popularity. I also guess that the person doing the pricing may not know that Henry Mancini wrote tons and tons of music for both TV and movies. I think we all listen to his compositions and not realize who wrote them.
Well, now I shall have to keep hunting and see what other gems I can come up with.
