I pulled this photo out from the archives. This is one of the famous Ski Birds C-130 that is stationed at the Air Nation Guard base at Schenectady County Airport. You may have seen the Smithsonian Channel’s episode of Mighty Planes (this link goes to Paramount+) that featured the Ski Birds.
This photo was snapped in 2014 at the Pistons & Props car show and fly-in. That event was held in conjunction with the Empire State Aerosciences Museum. Unfortunately, there has not been a Pistons & Props even in several years. Perhaps it will return someday and we will see the Ski Birds again.
