I ran across this Lenoxx Sound CD-101 boombox very recently and thought that it might need a new home. In addition to needing a new home, it desperately required some repair. It was a tape eater!

I opened the box, there are eight screws on the back, and was able to get a look the interior components.
It didn’t take much searching to discover that one of the two cassette drive belts was broken. It was logical to assume that the other belt was in bad shape, too. It was a fairly simple matter to replace the two belts.
Replacing the drive belts sorted out 99.99% of the problems with the exception of a pushbutton malfunction. The cassette player would not stay in play mode and shut off immediately after the button was pressed. Further investigation revealed that what I call an “auto-shutoff” lever needed to be reset. A quick flick of the lever and the mechanism was reset and ready to go.
