If you have been following the past several posts you know that I have been working on a Pioneer PD-M410 CD player. In the last post it was noted that the lens for the laser pickup was missing. Sure enough, by turning the CD player upside down and shaking gently the lens fell out of the case and onto the carpet that I use as a protective surface while working on projects. There it is, on the right, the missing lens.
Close examination of the pickup assemble revealed remnants of the glue that was supposed to hold the lens in place. Unfortunately, that original glue was only applied on part of the mount, not all the way around, and the lens eventually fell out. A touch of cyanoacrylate on the mount and I was able to carefully drop the lens back in place. Two hours later, it was cured and all seemed to be good.
The photo on the right shows the inside of the PD-M410 with the laser pickup assemble turned upside down. You can see the lens is in place and the clamp/drive wheels that spin the CD. All we have to do is put it back together.
